GPS Off-Highway Route Repository
Introduction
What is GOHRR?
This repository is a place to store and retrieve routes and tracks for
off-highway four wheel drive trails. The idea is that if you're going
to a trail, you may want some waypoints, a track or a route to store in
your GPS unit.
Why are we doing it?
Have you ever been on a route with a map, and found that the signs for
the trails or forest roads were poorly marked, or not marked at all?
If you just had a waypoint describing the location of the intersection
for the next turn in lat-long format, then you could simpy look at your
GPS and figure out of that turn is the right turn.
Well, this is the place to get such information.
What types of information is here?
The information stored here was collected by the contributors. It's
not necessarily that secret route to that perfect tail you've been looking
for. Rather, it's just some waypoints to some trails that the contributors
have provided.
What sorts of data are here?
The data contained here is either track or route data saved in text format
by Waypoint+. or in Delorme
Street Atlas format Waypoint+ is software for transferring data
to and from a Garmin GPS and your Wintel PC.
How to submit data
Send the file to Chris Dow with the following information:
-
Your name or a common name for the route
-
Minimally a brief description of the route, but a long description is fine
(preferred)
-
The data in either Street Atlas or Waypoint+ text format
Example Route
California Highway
4 To Slick Rock Trail
Rights to the Data
All the data contained in GOHRR belongs to the submitters. If at
any time, the submitter wishes to remove the data, then it will be removed
from GOHRR. However, the maintainers of GOHRR have no means to force
any persons who have retreived the data to destroy their copy.
The Routes
None are here yet. As the amount of data in this repository increases,
it will be organized by state.
